Cold Cave X Blackbird

In a time when we are inundated with seemingly endless collaborations, it takes us by surprise when we are able to announce something worthwhile.
Wesley Eisold, the founder of the band Cold Cave, bandmate and partner Amy Lee, and the Seattle-based store-turned-perfumer Blackbird have worked together to release two new incense scents, “LOVE” and “DEATH,” to coincide with the anniversary shows for Cold Cave releases, Love Comes Close and Death Comes Close, taking place befittingly on February 14th (Valentine’s Day) and February 15th (Wesley Eisold’s birthday). The sold out concerts will take place at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.
Eisold, Lee, and Blackbird’s decision to collaborate was an organic one. “For the past year or so we started burning their [Blackbird’s] scents on stage, and it just complemented the music and enhanced the feeling of the live show so much that it seemed like a natural step to work together. We make music and they make scents, but it’s all coming from the same place and same influences and same interests.“ Eisold told us. The project took six months to come to fruition, with Eisold and Lee carefully working on the scent notes that are rooted in their perception of what would symbolize love and death. “LOVE is based in ivy, rose, and honey, and DEATH is based in sage, marble, and leather,” Eisold said. Sounds about right to us.
