Introducing | YUME YUME

By Jon Wiebe

Founded in 2018 by Eva Korsten and Dave Hendriks and based in Amsterdam, YUME YUME takes its name from the Japanese word for “dream”. YUME YUME aspires to create unique design pieces for all creatives in the world and for the dream builders who dare to imagine and construct their own surroundings rather than purely inhabiting them. The duo combines unique silhouettes with a futuristic aesthetic and a strong focus on comfort. Committed to consciously sourcing materials, whilst also working closely with artisans and factories to produce high-quality products.

“When the sun arrives after the colder months, wildflowers appear in unexpected places, making the human structured life more beautiful. Places that are normally grey, dark and strictly functional are embellished by nature. The seeds that are spread in the summer before are finally grown to shine”.

Eva Korsten, Creative Director of Yume Yume

This botanical phenomenon became the inspiration for YUME YUME SS23 collection. The feeling of unexpected beauty that delights our human life is a moment to cherish every spring. YUME YUME SS23’s colour palette and materials are devoted to lift the mood after the colder winter months in the same way the wildflowers that are seen in unexpected places do every spring. For SS23 Yume Yume have experimented with brand new spring colourways, bold new textured fabrics and have integrated new sleek silhouettes as an update to some of their signature styles.

Brand new to the colour palette includes bright puffy yellow fabrics that are contrasted with psychedelic plisse blues to give strong 3D textures to the classic YUME YUME spring sliders. In contrast to some of their classic silhouettes, for SS23 YUME YUME have modified and tweaked their usually bold styles to create even slicker, slim-line versions for the season. Highlights include a stand-out metallic silver style, a brand new mule Love Heel and a sneak peak of the collaboration with artist Killa Kate.
